Love it. Evil's only interesting when it's not evil for evil's sake. The "something else" seed of what could have been something more if the world shaped it just a little differently is what makes a character compelling. A villain that makes an impression gets tears at his deathbed, for the person beneath that could have been redeemed if things had gone right, just once.
I like him already. He's not evil because it's an evil campaign, and that's what needed to be on the character sheet. He's warped and twisted and beaten and moulded into what he is, which coincidentally makes him the perfect PC to fit into the metagame delcared intention of an evil campaign.
And having completed my declaration of affection for Venarvus, I look up to see the link to my profile. You know me too well.
Your last character exerpt captures a scene I could see him in almost. Not for any lacking in your portrayal, but he's beyond noticing beauty and being stirred by it.
All of my players amaze me. Such excellent and intriguing backgrounds. Like Nicole has stated, I was hoping you guys would take on more than just the "Oh hey, we're evil" frame of mind. And yes, the greatest evil characters are molded not born.
It's going to be interesting seeing how these personalities play together and to see how they will flesh out.
