Geek Gods and Goddesses: Who Do YOU Want To Put In?

I'm starting a new series of albums for pics that depict the legendary 933k 90ds & 90dd3ss3s (trouble seeing? Are you not 1337?)

This is the Tribune's tribute to those men and women that represent the paragons of the geekly pantheon. Feel free to add your own albums and follow the forms -- don't forget to name the sphere of influence of your additions!

Any debate and discussion on who to add should happen here, in this forum. Sample shoo-ins are attached.

Megan Fox? She's only been in Transformers. Why her, show your work? Where's Jerri Ryan and Jolene Blalock?

Great questions, my liege!

1. Criteria for entry:

For consideration of admittance to this hallowed hallowe'ed pantheon, one must have a profound impact upon the geekly subjects below (um, us) through some sort of medium found in the Geek Canon (to come one day). That profound impact, however, need not entirely take place in the past, per se (cognito dictum?). On the contrary, for example, her Foxness has been only traversed the Geeklands in Transformers (to my knowledge), but the success and currently filming sequel secure the profundity of the property (heck, it is Transformers). This, coupled with her quite-justified meteoric rise make here more than qualified, despite her geek-youth.

2. Where Dey At?

I distribute reels and line, not fish, my friends! Add more! I have shown you the way. Go, and do likewise. Add to the collections, as we honor these, the geek-constellations that light our nights, and our dreams ... and stuff.

Nothing is until it is. Fox isn't

Transformers is not enough and I wouldn't necessarily rank her in Geekdom after the sequel. Once she does Fathom, it may secure a place for her. Her "geek youth" means, by definition, she can not be a "paragon of the geekly pantheon".

"Profound impact" you certainly don't measure by the number of geeks that have impacted their cocks with their sweaty fists while viewing or thinking about Megan I'm sure. Maybe there will be a place for her at nymph level - with Ryan and Blalock. Adding Fox would devalue True gods of geekdom like the first initiate George Carlin, Geek god of Comedy and Language.

Let me lead by example: I elevate Tina Fey to the status of Geek goddess of Comedy and Writing.

Diesel and Colbert. Because I swoon after unashamed roleplayers. Especially Colbert, though. Cause.

I don't know. I don't think a pretty face does it for me. Someone who has played a geeky character isn't going to win my vote unless they have some damned interest.

Such as...NO to Jessica Alba, and YES to Rosario Dawson.

Perhaps there should be three tiers: Heroes, Minor 9ods, and Major 9ods.

Fox definitely is. She is more than any It Girl alive right now. That does count for something. Deftly crossing over into the media mainstream (like the Trickster Fox that she is) slickly conceals the fact that the Transformers movies and Jennifer's Body firmly establishes her geekdom. The youthfulness is only reflected by the fact that she is new on the scene. It doesn't invalidate her 90dd3sstude.

And "no"-ing Alba is straight haterade, 'Cole! Jessica is definitely on the wrong side of the geekness issue, but that merely makes her a dark goddess, not thrown out of the Pantheon altogether. Whether we like it or not, Hades herself ain't goin' anywhere ... unless it's yellow bikini shopping.

King Carlin, The Fey Queen, Diesel (90d of Trucks?, Colbert (90d of Eagles?) and the current Domina (bien sur) are definitely in by my count. Add away!

It Girl does not equal Geek Paragon. Had you titled this Nymphs of Geekdom you'd have agreement, cause it would honestly communicate the spank list you're forming - as evidenced by that Alba pictoral.

I elevate Amy Sedaris to Lady Trickster of Geekdom

Everything in it's place and a place for everything. I stand by The Fox and A.L.B.A.

And Digg has said exactly which place Fox and Alba should be. Which is to say, not in the pantheon.

That's like putting Orlando Bloom there. Elf or not, he's no Geek God. Eye-Candy is Candy because it is delicious but of little substance.

Looking good naked is not profound impact. Well. Maybe very specifically targeted impact. For a couple of minutes.

I might toss Kevin Smith up there. Completely clad, however.

CLAD PLEASE, for the sake of us all!

Bloom and Kev are definitely in. Have you seen a pantheon lately? There are goo-gobs of gods out there (and that's just the Romans). I mean, a god presiding over the ability of crops to "yield milk"? Legolas pwns his soul.

Expand yer horizons, friends! The point of this exercise is to put them in, not keep them out.

Now, quit bee-otchyn, and get to adding albums!

Nice pic. I'd still prefer her holding a flute.

Approved fully - she's not only a cutie but has consistently played a geek girl over her entire career.
