A Review of da Dominion

This was posted at Blog Catalog by Matt in exchange for my review of his blog Game Cherry

I wrote that his blog was an excellant site for teenagers with the "One-Hand Typing" proficiency plus some more constructive criticism and gave it a 6/10. He gave me a 6/10 and wrote this:

"...a horribly unbalanced waste of three hours akin to the mental equivalent of masturbation to a woman later revealed to be a dude...", this is an actual line from one of this bloggers posts. Dysphemisms like this are sprinkled throughout the various pages I read, which add color and humor to the passages.

I have to be honest, it's a little strange. It's political but mostly(not all) geared to observing the nuances of political talk show hosts and their reactions to the topic of discussion.

There are random quibs about black celebrity culture and news, and podcast set lists.

The most prevalent entries of what I read were about...a rule set for a customized 4th edition d20 role playing game? I think that's what I was reading...I felt like I was asked to call the first guy in the phonebook but only given the last page, it was a tad confusing.

The blog as a whole is written well, but sometimes I felt like I arrived late for the party and only know half of what's going on.

What do we think about this?

It might be because Im fairly new but I understand what he meant about the party, but the great thing about this "party" is that it dosent take long to get into it. I am familiar with a few blog sites now and I would rate this site at least 7-8 out of 10 simply because it serves it's purpuse, it has great graphics, and frankly I honestly cant get board on here (which really tends to happen on a few other blog sites I belong to), but thats my opinion, keep up the good work

I think it is hard to get into because navigation can be a little painful? A lot of the content isn't neatly categorized in an easily accessible and obvious menu, and the forum doesn't have the sort of structure that would allow people to be funneled into their topics of interest.

Navigating it for an extended period of time makes it easy, but a newcomer might be intimidated bu the clutter.

I don't like the Voodoo theme. I think it's gotta go. I'm comfortable with the look of the blog itself being your proviso, but I would listen to the audience here and switch to something better. I'm partial to each of the 15 or so layouts I sent you to sample.

Other thoughts on the voodoo them?

I love it myself, and preferred it to those other themes we perused when we did the overhaul in August. Let's change what you don't like about it instead of throwing out the baby with the bath water.

Dominion Cast Reviewed

By none other than Luke of Fear the Boot and Podge Cast:

"I really don't have that many notes for you. Overall, you put on a good, entertaining show. I particularly liked the music episode. Most of the time I hate when podcasts used background music, but somehow you were able to make it work and the show was much better for it. The show has a very nice chilled and relaxed feel that I dig.

The only critique I had was about sound. Some folks are very loud and others are very quiet. I don't know if everyone has their own mics, but if so you may want to work on your sound balance a bit. If people are sharing mics it's a hard problem to fix.
