Sharp Wit for a Dull World!

It really is always sunny in Philadelphia

I’ve recently come across a show that makes everything else almost seem like crap. This show is about 5 jackasses who run a bar in Philly and all of them have their own weird/psycho issues. Earlier I wanted to compare this show to the office, but I realized it’s impossible. The office’s main catches are Michael and Dwight. Personally the romance between Jim and Pam often is what makes IASIP better. As “sweet” as the Jim and Pam thing is, its not something that keeps me (and most men) hooked, its Michael and Dwight hands down, sometimes they have episodes where everybody’s on top of their game but that’s only a few episodes a season. IASIP is ALWAYS on top of their game. There is no romantic mess on this show to take away the comedy. The only thing close to Jim and Pam is Charlie and The waitress (her actual name is not given, she’s known as the waitress) who Charlie stalks .
Character wise, you have Dennis and Deandra (sweet Dee) who are twin brother and sister and both have extreme issues. Then you have Mac who was friends with Dennis in high school, and later became roommates, Mac is self-proclaimed asshole, whose against abortion, racially in-sensitive, and doesn’t know much about women, and his ex was a transvestite. Then you Charlie who is a volatile loser, and is probably mentally challenged. He cant read or write and best of all he invented GREEN MAN, which is when he wares a green latex body suit and runs around doing random crap (depending on the episode). Lastly, you have Frank, Denis and Dee’s stepfather, who was a successful businessman and has a long history of illegal operations and diabolical schemes. He was introduced in the first episode of the second season as a man undergoing a midlife crisis. He divorced Dennis and Dee's mother and decided to join in his children's lazy, scheming lifestyle. Frank became co-owner of Paddy's by purchasing land underneath it, and used this leverage to forcibly join the gang. It is revealed over the course of the show that Frank is possibly Charlie's deadbeat father, as Frank had a one-night stand with Charlie's mom 30 years before and was never told of Charlie's birth. Frank styles himself a master manipulator and frequently takes the lead in the group's schemes.
I never thought it was possible but a show finally got the office, this is that show. This is a show where no lessons are learned, and no one gives a damn about sensors. This is comedy at its best, and on top of that it’s a low budget show too, the three main characters (Mac, Charlie, and Dennis) in real life are the creaters, directors, writers, and producers, and its almost beautiful how original and classic this show is and its only in its 4th season. It just got picked up for 3 more seasons on F/X so don’t forget to go and check out those episodes online its worth it, watch it whenever you can, you will not regret it.

You know what I did try the UK version, I thought it was funny, but steve Carell and Rainn win hands down to me (personally). But I do enjoy the british version. Yea I hear the comparisson to Seinfeld alot, and I see it but I just never ever ever liked seinfeld, it was funny but it just never won me over completely won me over, but yea its true they are very similar in characters

Have you tried watching the original UK version of "The Office" with Ricky Gervais? I highly recommend.

I just recently got hooked on "It's Always Sunny...", too. It reminds me a lot of "Seinfeld": absolutely horrible, horrible people running amok in the world...

No problem, I am the same way with Heroes, I enjoyed it but I wasnt in th mood to add a new show to my list, but yea give it a real chance, its a show thats extremely easy to pick up on. And its not a heavy show loaded with to be continueds, cast romances in front of the camera, drama, its a ginuine funny show. And I thank Digg for turning me on to it, probably the best show I've ever been recomended.

I have watched one or two episodes and I remember laughing but for whatever reason it left no lasting impact on me. I'm trying not to add any more TV shows in my life but you sold me. I will have to check it out. Thanks for the post.
